Global Volunteer Network

About us

V2V is a social network that promotes direct contact among volunteers. V2V stands for volunteer-to-volunteer. It connects people who are already acting with those who want to start.

Sharing similar core values, Starbucks and V2V have joined forces to give visibility to what people are doing for their community. Starbucks V2V is the first global community of volunteers to join V2V. It is a place for collaboration, where you can inspire or get inspired.

The opportunity of creating a global volunteer network brought together two organizations that use innovative tools to encourage volunteering activities in their regions: Comunitas (Brazil) and Chandra Foundation (Spain). Since 2000, these two organizations develop two leading Internet projects on volunteering in both countries: Portal do Voluntário, in Brazil and Haces Falta, in Spain. Both Comunitas and Chandra have been developing cutting edge technologies to promote volunteering in companies such as: IBM, Embratel, CPFL, Embraer, ABN/AMRO, Itaú Bank, Vale Mining Co., HSBC Bank, Vivo Telecom, Alcoa, Nike and Bradesco Bank, in Brazil; and Grupo Vips, BBVA, Accenture, Mapfre, Bankinter and ONO in Spain.

History

The first version of V2V technology was developed by Comunitas in Brazil and implemented in corporate volunteer programs and community organizations. In 2005, the challenge of expanding V2V as a global volunteer network brought together Comunitas and Chandra Foundation, from Spain. Omidyar Network supported V2V?s upscaling and outreach.

The first company to partner with V2V in the global space is Starbucks Coffee. Given its guiding principles and international reach, Starbucks is well positioned to set in motion the building of a vibrant community of creative people and active citizens. Starbucks shares V2V's vision of welcoming other global companies and organizations to join and enrich this collaborative environment.
